Take a deep breath, and hold it for four seconds. Now exhale, emptying your lungs. Pause. Repeat as many times as necessary. Consider the life you're introducing into your body - the joy of being alive realized for maybe your first time today. Congratulations. You just did a little yoga.
I pursued my first 200-hour yoga teacher training course in Goa, India, in 2017. It was a totally bizarre experience that reminded me we're all humans - even yogis in India - with weaknesses, shortcomings, and/or Napoleonic complexes. Yoga is a business after all, and it's also one of the most powerful tools that each of us has access to on any given day - no matter where we are in the world. Beyond the strength cultivated through postures, yoga creates space: space in your spine, in your brain, in your dreams. By choosing to practice, you invite light in, opening yourself up to see in a new way and allowing your body to rest, recover, heal, and encourage wellness.
My personal practice and teaching balances Vinyasa with restorative postures. From hyper-flexible kiddos to stiff, older bodies, I find great joy in helping others unlock the blocks standing between them and their breath. I'd love to assist if the need arises for a private yoga instructor willing to cross oceans and high-altitude passes to meet you on your mat.
